The 'Sharp siding' in 82 is an intentional reminder that without his pioneering work we could have lost so much. ln any case, it's a lovely movement. Purists may prefer authentic siding (right shoulder to right shoulder and fall back) and that can be substituted if desired, ;

A medley of steady 32-bar 'Playford' tunes, preferably alternating jigs and reels. Here are some suggestions for suitable jigs and reels, (all researched by Cecil Sharp). JIGS: The Queen's Jig; Upon A Summer's Day; The Fine Companion; The Boatman; The Guid Man of Ballangigh; Fourpence Halfpenny Farthing. REELS: Jack's Maggot; The Indian Queen; Newcastle; Childgrove; Greenwich Park; Mad Robin; Portsmouth.
