Siding left and turning counter-clockwise are suggested because it flows better.

Having the dance alternate up and down copies My Lord Of Carnarvan's Jig.

The tune is 16 bars in length (A=4 bars, B=4 bars, both repeated) and the tune is played through twice for once through the dance.

Written for the Keymer Folk Dance Club and debuted when I called for them on 7 Jul 1979.

The dance is based on Cherping Of The Larke, 1651-1690. This is not an interpretation of the original dance, but a dance based on and inspired by the original. Ceciul Sharp did not attempt to interpret it and originally it would have been done by the 1st man only.
