Sorting and Filtering Help
Sorting
You can sort the list by any of the columns by clicking on the up and down arrows at the top of the column.
Filtering
There are two ways you can filter the information, ie search for the specific information you are interested in.
- The top left hand search box operates on the whole table. It will search through all the records and all the columns for a match on the text you enter. The global search is an "OR" search across all the columns.
- You can also filter on individual columns, or combinations of columns. This is an "AND" search, ie the search criteria have to be valid in all the columns being searched.
The filter boxes for the colums are located immediately under the column title. There are two type of filter box. Those with a 'heathery' colour are free text input boxes (just like the global search box). You can start typing and the selection will update dynamically. This is often refered to as 'typedown'. The dark pink filter boxes (also have a drop-down arrow) are selection filters. When you click in the selection box or on the drop down arrow at the right-hand end of the selection box, a drop down list of values will appear (NB. you can only select one value in each column).
You can clear all the column filters by clicking on the [Clear Column Filters] button at the top of the table. To clear individual column selections click in the blank area at the top of the drop down list. To remove a global search just delete the characters you have entered in the Global Search box.
The global search is very powerful. For example, if you enter "sun" it will find all:
- records with "Sunday" in the date field, as well as
- records with "sun" included in the title , eg "Sun Assembly", "Rising Of The Sun" and "Sunset Limited"
- records with "sun" in the venue (eg "Watsun Village Hall").
