Michael Barraclough says: As there is no online image available it is not possible to comment on how faithful this modern choreography is to the original dance. Based on the fact that the first appearance of this dance is 1775, it is assumed to have originally been a triple minor and has been adapted to a duple minor dance. According the Dance Figures Index, the dance's original name was Arus Bay.

Jonathan says "I came up with this dance on 5/20/2013 prior to a gig in Bloomington, IN. I wanted a nice easy dance for early in the evening and was tired of the same old dances I had been using. I borrowed bits from several other easy dances. I live in Champaign, IL and figured it was a cocktail of dances and thus the name, a play on Champagne Cocktail."
