After the 1st turn, while the new 1st corners cross, the new 2nd corners, having just gypsied left with their partner, continue turning individually to the left in order to face their partner on the line, ready to pass them left.

Charles says "This dance derives from the dance 'Southwind', published by the late Cor Hogendijk in 1973 to a tune from Purcell's 'King Arthur'. Unfortunately, the instructions, as he gave them, defy performance, and a simplified version is available (see Purcell's Dancing Master by Nicholas Broadbridge). This is an attempt of mine to reconstruct the dance in the spirit of the original."
